The votes are in, the stats are out and it’s looking like 2017 is officially the year of the smartphone.
Effective Measure has just released its Mobile in MENA Report for 2017 and the results indicate that an increasing number of people in MENA are holding their lives in the palms of their hands (literally).
The report reveals that 66% of respondents browse the web on their mobiles, while 35% are on their mobiles for over 5 hours a day on average. Data also shows that most-read types of content on mobiles are News, Sport and Technology.
In terms of what’s compelling users to make purchases on their phones, the report indicates that 13% are buying apps or in-app products, while finance products are the least purchased at only 2%.
The report also discloses sentiment towards online ads with almost a quarter of respondents stating they'll click on an ad if it interests them but dislike that they are hard to click out of.
The report itself is a unique insight into smartphone use, network and model preference, mobile advertisement attitudes and consumer mobile habits in MENA:
“We started this research because we know professionally and personally how integrated mobile phones are in our lives. What we don't really know is how people in MENA in particular use their smartphones. These insights highlight how those in MENA are changing as consumers," said Matthew Robarts, MENA MD, Effective Measure.
